Boycotts

Don't support media outlets that contribute to the erosion of democracy. These include Newsmax, Fox News, OAN, and Truth Social for their consistent spread of misinformation. Furthermore, (CBS)Paramount, (ABC)Disney, and (CNN)Warner Bros Discovery have all distorted their news coverage to appease Trump.

(CBS)Paramount is particularly egregious, as they paid him 16 million dollars for a bogus lawsuit, canceled critical programming like Steven Colbert, and a segment on 60 Minutes exposing ICE’s brutal treatment of detainees. They even falsely reported that the ICE agent who killed Renee Good was treated for internal injuries.

Stand for truth

We believe in a media landscape that prioritizes truth over profit and influence. This page details critical boycotts targeting media outlets and corporations that distort information, appease political figures, or allow ownership influence to compromise journalistic integrity. Your participation is vital in holding these entities accountable and fostering a more honest information environment for our community in Portland and beyond.

Challenge biased ownership and enablers

We also stand against ownership influence and corporations enabling harmful political agendas. The Los Angeles Times and The Washington Post’s billionaire owners have  curtailed criticism to avoid retribution. The New York Post endorsed Trump in 2024. Tech giants Google and YouTube have run Spanish-language ads telling Spanish-speakers in the U.S. to 'go home.' Additionally, Target, Amazon, and Home Depot are identified as aiding Trump. Notably, Amazon’s billionaire owner, Jeff Bezos, contributed to the construction of Trump's Ballroom and is said to direct The Washington Post to distort the truth.

Spend money elsewhere

Your actions can make a significant difference.  The boycotts against Avelo Airlines, Disney and Spotify brought quick results. We urge you to:

  • Cancel shopping and subscriptions: Don’t pay for content or services from implicated companies, such as Paramount Plus.
  • Contact advertisers: Reach out to companies advertising with these outlets and ask them to pause their support.
  • Voice concerns publicly: Use social media and other platforms to share your dissatisfaction.
  • Contact decision makers: Directly express your concerns to the leadership of these companies.
  • Support alternatives: Shift your financial and viewership support to independent and unbiased providers.
